The world is changing rapidly, on the impulse of scientific discoveries and creation of technology. The public, in general, consciously values technology for its results in achieving a better life quality; for its contribution towards understanding among people through communications and for its efforts to erradicate hunger and ensure health.
In our America, social progress and economic welfare of the countries depends largely on the intelligent use of technology and the activities of the people who have been formed to create it: the engineers .
Each country of the Continent has been able to witness the contributions to their progress made by talented and hard working engineers, that practised their profession without stridency or honours. Creative and enterprising engineers from different specialities, transformed scientific knowledge into useful technologies and adapted them to the needs of the society, through projects, services, installations, machines, instruments, materials, energy, processes and products.
These evidences prompted UPADI and the National Federations that form it to seek an adequate mean to publicly honor these exceptional engineers who, giving prestige to their profession, have decisively contributed towards the progress of their countries and the Continent. The answer was to create a hierarchic Continental Institution, whose members besides distinguishing engineers that possess an exemplary profesional trajectory, commits them to work together offering their inteligence, their experience and their time in order to allow engineering to continue helping with growing efficacy the development of each country in America.
These are the reasons for the creation of the Pan American Academy of Engineering
