The World Federation of Engineering Organizations was founded in 1968 in Paris, at a meeting summoned by UNESCO by representatives of UPADI, FEANI (European Federation of Engineers Associations), CEC (Commonwealth Engineers Council), FAE (Federation of Arab Engineers) and FAOE (Federation of African Organizations of Engineers). At present these organizations together with another five that represent the different regions of the world, are the International Members.
The By Laws (Art. 9) grant the prerogative of nominating Corresponding Members of the Academy to the "Organization of the country that is a member of WFEO" thus referring to the National Members that form it. At present (2005) the Academy has 11 Corresponding Members from three Continents: Europe, Asia and America. Among them the present President of WFEO and two Past Presidents.
