Pan American Academy of Engineering
Towards the middle of the 90's decade, a group of engineers from the American Continent working in the orbit of UPADI coincided in the need to create an Academy that would summon qualified representatives of our profession in order to unite talents, capabilities and experiences and put them at the service of the development of the countries of the Continent to improve the life quality of its people, overcome the technological delay and eradicate poverty.
The Pan American Academy of Engineering is the first Professional Corporation of an international nature that joins individually engineers from different countries, elected by their peers by means of a rigorous process of selection.
The condition of Pan American Academician is a distinction that involves responsibilities and duties. It is an honor received by those of us who are willing to commit our intelligence, our efforts and our time in order to make engineering continue to help with growing efficiency, towards the development of each country of America.
My colleague Academicians and all the engineers that work through UPADI and the National Societies of Engineers, constitute an outstanding part of the Civil Society willing to head the challenges that our profession imposes upon us of being creators of the goods and services that can transform our planet into a better place, more human, just and solidary .
The Academy is traveling along its seventh year of life (2007) promoting projects and programs aimed at proposing policies that are beneficial for the activity of engineering in the American Continent. The success we achieve in this objective, will strengthen the Academy as an Institution capable of orienting talent and the work of innovative and visionary people and will be the best acknowledgement that those of us who now manage its fate, will receive.
