Board of Directors Anual Meeting
According to the By-Laws, these meetings are held together with meetings of International Board of Directors of UPADI.
Anual Meeting in 2007 took place at Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y Arquitectos of Costa Rica, on September 3 rd . and 4 th .
Several interesting subjects were discussed, such as:
• To appoint a special Group to prepare a policy document on Sustainable Development;
• To adhere to the Memorandum of Understanding subscribed by the Organizations of the Continent;
• To approve the recommendations about common standards of knowledge in undergraduate studies in engineering and to diffuse these recommendations to the Organizations of Evaluation and Accreditation in each country and through the Members of UPADI and the Engineering Education Institutions;
• To prepare a policy document for the Academy on the subject: Strategies to reduce Global Warming through Engineering;
• To appoint a Committee to study the possible changes to the By Laws according to the proposals of the Focus Session;
• The theme of the Policy Forum of the Academy in Brasilia 2008 shall be “Strategies to reduce Global Warming through Engineering”;
• To confirm Buenos Aires in 2010 as the venue for Academy Meeting, including the Solemn Session of Incorporation of new Members; Policy Forum and Plenary Ordinary Session.

The success of the First Focus Session held at Aruba in 2005, together with Anual Meeting of the Board of Directors, encouraged the academicians to require the President for this Second Focus Session.
These meetings are open based round table discussions, with active participation of all members, in order to analyze the activities of the Academy dealing with its Mission, its strengths and weakness, and to discuss policies for future activities.
Each report of the Task Groups were discussed and analyzed, such as: Social Responsibility of the Engineer in Sustainable Development; Knowledge and Competencies for Engineering in all Countries of America; Development of Managerial Capability in Engineering; Common Standards of Knowledge in Undergraduate Studies in Engineering.
