Fundation Act
In the city of Panama, Republic of Panama, on the twentyfourth day of the month of August of the year 2000, summoned by the Pan American Federation of Engineering Societies, UPADI, those who sign this Act meet in the frame of the XXVI Pan American Convention of Engineers, to constitute an engineering Institution, non-profitable, of a technical, scientific, educational and cultural nature, with a pan american scope, whose name shall be Pan American Academy of Engineering and whose operation is ruled as from this moment by the By Laws that were approved by the International Board of UPADI in San José de Costa Rica in August 1996. The signatories, engineers of different disciplines and activities in the American Continent, acknolwedge having been nominated by the National Engineering Associations that are Members of UPADI in their countries and having been elected to participate in this act as Founder Academicians by the International Board of UPADI in Lima, Peru, in October 1998.
The Pan American Academy of Engineering shall be an international environment with hierarchy propitious for the study, presentantion, analysis and discussion of improvements in the field of engineering and technology and for the difussion of the achievements and results of the actions of the engineers in benefit of humanity. It will cooperate towards the improvement of inicial, continuous and postgraduate formation in engineering and with the high quality of teaching and will promote among engineers the maintenance of a continuous process of professional development with high ethical standards always tending towards the search of excellence. Its institutional operation shall be based on the capacity, experience and vocation for service of the Members that compose it in their different categories, who intend to work together to contribute to the strengthening of engineering and technological activities in each country of the American Continent, as a way of promoting among them, economic, social and human welfare, within sustainable development.
As witnesses of this act it is signed together with the Founder Members, by the authorities of UPADI present at the event, its President, the Vice Presidents and members of the International Board of UPADI 2000 as well as the Presidents of the Consulting Council and the Technical Council. Also invited to sign this document are the Representatives of Engineering, Technology and Science Academies from different countries of the world that have honored this event with their attendance.
The signatories dispose to close this Act of Foundation, begging the Lord Almighty for his protection to guide them always in the activities of the Pan American Academy of Engineering.
