Practitioner Civil Engineer, in planning and constructing commercial and housing buildings. Director of Building and Public Works enterprise, and Supervisor of Consulting enterprise on Civil Engineering. Member of the State Highways Council, and head of the Standards office of the Land Reform Institute (Presidency of the Republic).

Vice-President of the Brazilian Federation of Engineers Societies (FEBRAE) ; Past Vice President and President (for 30y), elected Honor President of the Alumni Association of the Polytechnic National College; Permanent Counselor and Past Director of the Engineering Club; Past President end Permanent Counselor of the Brazilian Association of Fellows in France; member of the Brazilian Association of Engineering Education (ABENGE), to which represents in FEBRAE’s Council; member of the Brazilian Committee of Engineering Journeys of Portuguese Language Countries; member of the Delegate Commission of UPADI ; member of the Standing Committee on Engineering Education and Training of WFEO/FMOI .

Associate Professor at the National Engineering School, University of Brazil, in 1977. Head of the Department of Engineering Transportation. Currently, member of the Superior Council of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Research fellow in the field of Soil Mechanics and Pavements at the National Research Council. Lecturer in more than 30 conferences, (some published). About 50 papers in journals and magazines, some other 20 in national and overseas Congresses, meetings and workshops.
